Sony has released the beta version of Android ICS 4.0.3 for its
Xperia smartphones. The Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0.3 Beta ROM is now
available to upgrade on the Xperia Ray, the Xperia Neo V and the Xperia
Arc S.
However, when compared to the alpha ROM rolled out in last month of 2011, the 4.0.3 Beta brings support for GSM and FM radio, which indicates that user can able to surf the web and connect calls.
According to reports both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi functionalities are still
missing in this update.
The latest Beta version has brought
several new features like new lock-screen that has a capability to
control the music player and has a shortcut to open camera. The company
is also planning to add the face unlock facility in upcoming ICS ROM,
which is currently available on the Galaxy Nexus phone.
The
ICS ROM 4.0.3 beta also has a facility to set a message that user can
send after rejecting a call and also offers a new dialer for quick dial
mode.
The Beta ROM has not been integrated with a number of Google
apps such as Google Maps, Gmail and Android Market but the company will
fix these issues in final version.
Sony has uploaded the ICS
4.0.3 Beta to its official website, which you can download now but
please note that Beta ROM still comes with a lot of bugs and warnings,
before you update or install it.
