Some time ago automatic transmission cars were considered to be luxurious products belonging to the high-end market.
However, these days nearly every brand has its own model available in automatic as well as manual transmissions. The scenario is changing slowly with the launch of several automatics in the country. Automatics offer significant benefits on roads like ours but have rarely made an appearance in India.

MARUTI A-STAR

Maruti’s A- Star is a strong contender in the small car segment with a 4 speed auto gear box on offer. This South Korean manufacturer wants to be a part of every segment. It has its presence in every so-called segment in our country. Hyundai India is a top notch company which has some ultra successful product in its kitty.
Hyundai’s i10 is one of the best cars in terms of styling, engines and VFM positioning in the country as of now, which also has an auto version. The Automatic Version of the i10 has a 1.2 litre VTVT DOHC Kappa engine which has a 4 speed auto gearbox with a power output of 84 bhp. The i10 comes with ABS and Airbags as option and also has a sunroof for which you'll need to pay some extra bucks. 

It comes in 3 variants namely Magna, Asta and Sportz within a price band of Rs 5.05- Rs 5.99 lakhs ex showroom (New Delhi)

 

HYUNDAI i20

The Hyundai i20 auto comes with a 1.4 litre gamma petrol engine from the company’s international range with 100bhp power and VTVT technology. This car comes with a brand new touch screen AVN (Audio Video Navigation) technology, which helps you understand the maps and directions to reach your favourite destination easily. It has a 4 speed auto gearbox with light aluminium alloy construction which enhances power, economy and life of the engine. This car too comes with ABS as standard and Airbags and sunroof as an option.
The Hyundai i20 is a clear winner in terms of interiors, space and VFM offering.

The i20 Auto range starts from Rs 7.59 lakhs and ends somewhere near Rs 8.15 lakhs. (ex showroom New Delhi)

 

SKODA RAPID

Skoda Rapid is the first built to cost car from the Czech manufacturer with an automatic transmission on offer. The Rapid is a very good car in terms of quality as Skoda is a part of the Volkswagen Group and this manufacturer is very famous for its quality engineering. 

The Rapid is built on the same lines as the VW Vento and both the cars are built in the same plant in Pune. The Automatic transmission SX4 comes with a 4 speed Auto gearbox and a 1.6 litre 105 bhp VTT engine, which makes driving a pleasure. 

The car is also capable of doing 160 kmph on the highways.
The SX4 comes with ABS with EBD and Airbags as standard, integrated audio system and height adjustable driver’s seat.

The price range starts from Rs 8.41 lakhs and ends at Rs 8.75 lakhs for the top end Zxi and Zxi leather edition respectively.
